Leading yourself
A personal story.
At the height of covid, I was struggling to lead my team.
I couldn't figure out why.
I was sleep-deprived, irritable, and indecisive.
About 6 months in, it dawned on me.
I had let my workout routine fall apart.
My mental and emotional health was paying the price.
Almost daily trips to the yoga studio were a thing of the past.
I wasn’t making the time for online classes either.
So I made a change.
I made exercise a priority.
And it transformed everything.
Suddenly, I had a moment in the day to switch off, forget the pandemic and work, and focus on myself.
Research backs it up too: prioritizing exercise is vital for any leader.
If we don't take care of ourselves, we can't take care of our teams.
Leadership isn’t about you.
But it starts with you.
The key to leading is looking after yourself first.
