How is your leadership team meeting?

How most leadership team meetings go:

- The agenda is presented at the start of the meeting.
- Folks are unprepared and are not focused.
- Conversations are long and meandering.
- There is a lack of clear action items.
- People are distracted by laptops and phones.
- The meeting adjourns without clear next steps or an action plan.

How leadership team meetings should go:

- A clear agenda with allotted times is provided at least 24 hours in advance of the meetings.
- Agenda items are purposeful and have objectives tied back to the school’s strategic plan because goals are undertsood.
- Meeting opens with an opportunity to create connections among team members.
- The group is lively with interactions.
- All voices are heard and all ideas are considered. People feel respected and appreciated for their contributions.
- The meeting ends with decisions, tangible results, and next steps that can be acted upon.

We spend so much of our day in meetings.  Let’s make them focused, productive, efficient, and enjoyable.
