Burnout
The question I am asked the most is why I left school administration.
And I often give the same answer:
“I was tired.”
But that’s not the whole truth.
I was burned out.
▪️ Exhausted
▪️ Unable to find meaning in my work
▪️ Disengaged
▪️ Alone
I couldn’t see a way forward in the work I was doing so I made a change.
And committed to making sure others sitting in senior leadership roles didn’t have to make the same choice.
Those sitting in Assistant and Associate Head positions are especially vulnerable to burnout given the weight of their roles.
It is why I created the Assistant/Associate Head Leadership Cohort so that others could have a group of peers, find meaning in their roles and stay the course in school leadership.
